Once you have reached the stage of practicing yoga at home there are various helpful things you can do which will help your progress. These include using meditation techniques such as breathing exercises, developing mental awareness by focusing on thoughts and feelings, improving concentration through remembering positive words each day, setting goals such as being mindful of what you say in a positive manner or simply allowing yourself to come back to the breath if you feel flustered.

The best times to practice Yoga at home is any time you have between 5 minutes and half an hour. Ideally if you have the mindset of coming onto your mat for 5 minutes, you will probably end up practicing for a lot longer. If you do not have much time try doing some sun salutations which is a great way to get your heart pumping and muscles moving!

Try drinking room temperature water to keep hydrated as it will be easier on your digestive system.

Light stretching at first is recommended as well as some gentle breathing exercises during Savasana (relaxation pose). Always ask a doctor if you have any concerns about practicing Yoga at home.

Yoga for beginners can be more of a physical workout than an opportunity to meditate, however it is still important to remain focused . Breathe slow and steady and make sure you are not holding your breath as this may cause your body to tense up rather than relax. You must be very careful when practicing Yoga at home because if you push yourself too much you may injure yourself.

Avoid practicing sun salutations or any other fast paced movements before you have mastered the basic Yoga poses.

Find the space in your home where you will be undisturbed and place down your mat. Then all you need is some relaxing music and a lovely scented candles to create a sacred space for you! You deserve it!

The first thing to do when practicing Yoga at home is remember why you are doing it- what motivates you? Also clear your mind of negative thoughts by focusing on the present – for example – what you see, smell and hear.

If you find yourself feeling restless when practicing Yoga at home, try preparing for your session the night before by relaxing yourself with some calming music or candlelight bath . Then set out your yoga mat the next day in a relaxed manner to start your practice.
